Just kidding.
This seems like the perfect time to reveal our home’s Secret Past. It thought it could hide forever, but this morning our neighbor sent us this photo of our house … in pink! These may be the original colors when it was built in 1890, we’re not sure. Oh, you Victorians and your gingerbread color palettes.

I love that our house will always be a little bit fabulous — cool and understated on the outside while secretly wearing pink underwear.

Not sure if everyone is sick of turkey and giving thanks, but all of those leftovers need to fufill their Thanksgiving destiny. TURKEY DAY FOREVER!!!!
There are no rules to The Leftover Thanksgiving Sandwich. No one makes the same fixin’s and everyone has their secret family recipes and traditions. Look, my sandwich is delicous because our secret stuffing recipe is delicious. This year, Jim + I cooked the meal together for the first time, so his mama shared her recipe with us. It’s fabulous and we’re not sharing! (Evil wink.)
My perfect sandwich is a sweet + colorful sandwich. I topped this one with cranberry sauce and my mom’s carrot soufflé. Thanks mom!
After that whole day of cooking, it’s finally time to be lazy and simple! Grab turkey, gravy, stuffing, everything but the apple pie, and eat the not-so-secret sandwich.

This past month I was able to work on a project I’m really excited about. My good friend Angela has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise money to grow her small business, Winifred Bean, a line of wedding dresses for creative brides. Another cool thing, I edited the above video for her campaign! (shot by Justin Reid)

I wish Winifred Bean existed when I was wedding dress shopping. I loved my dress and I feel like I’m cheating on it a little when I say this, but I just adore the simple, cool, chic gowns from Winifred Bean. I mean, just look:

You can mix and match the tops and bottoms of the dresses until you find something that fits your style.

The funds from Kickstarter will help Angela take the line to the International Bridal Market in NYC this October, where they will be exposed to stores and brides across the US and around the world. The money raised will also go towards developing a second set of samples so that while the dresses are off at market and trunk shows, she can still hold private appointments out of her home.

Angela became a new mom last year after her first collection was complete. This is her peanut, Julianne!

I believe in Angela and her little dream. I’m so happy to help get her small business off the ground.
Please help support creative independent talent; no donation is too small. If she doesn’t reach her goal by October 9th, she gets nothing, so spread the good word and share with all the wonderful people you know!

Yesterday my mom sent me the photo of her in the middle. She was 24 there!
We all kind of have that “smirk/head tilt” down, don’t you think? I love that we look even a little bit like her here. She will always be the most beautiful woman in the world to me!
Love you, mommy.

I get bored very often and usually end up taking it out on my hair. Whatever length or color, this is the look I’m typically drawn to.

It’s the “I-just-got-out-of-bed-looking-effortlessly-perfect” look. It’s kind of beachy, but not. Whatever it is, I don’t have it. My hair is quite straight and boring on it’s own. I need some waves, some texture. Some pizazz.

Enter Davines. They’ve created this No.14 Sea Salt Primer For Wizards and Texturizer Styling Spray and some days I think they made them just for me. I spray a small amount of the Texturizer into my hair while it’s damp, twirling the hair around my fingers in small sections as I’m drying it. When it’s almost completely dry, I spray the Sea Salt on to my ends and play with the hair to give it a messy wave. This might sound like a lot of work, but it’s kind of fun. Feels like sculpting.
I’m really liking that first image of Daria Pleggenkuhle. It’s short though, like, REALLY short. Hrmmm.

I love the weekly wedding looks from the Winifred Bean girls. Every week they invite someone to pull together a look for their gorgeous wedding dress line and this week they’ve featured my look!
I styled the Vintage Inspired Winifred Bean Dress, which is actually the Audrey Blouse and Descending Silk Skirt (I love that it’s a skirt.)
It’s so elegant and chic and I didn’t think it needed much accessorizing. The shoes are a glitter DIY from Could I Have That and I adore that tiny Catbird ring.
Here are some more of my favorite weekly wedding looks from Winifred Bean:

i’m doing it again — signing up for another city to city project. i feel delighted, and also there’s a twinge of guilt. i’ve accepted that i’ll wait until the last minute to work on my book. the shame.
but good things happen from this!

old sketchbooks inspire me. a couple of our past themes will be in animation pre-production this year! like caterpillars, they become butterflies.
so i’m signing up for the 2013 sketchbook project before midnight. i want that little free sleeping bag.

4 years ago Pat proposed to me right here! Today, I have a cold, so after he made me some tea and toast, I crawled out of bed and we hugged in this spot to reminisce.
Back then, we were building our house and this fireplace was just a pile of stones. We were holding hands as we imagined what our first house was going to be like when he got down on one knee.

We were engaged for about 10 minutes when we took this picture. Then we ran out to buy our first champagne glasses.
(I accidentally deleted my entire photo library in 2009, so this picture of a picture will have to do.)
